Picture Post 2 (avec words): A Journey Homewards.

Shiny!

Grrr. The floor is perfect no longer.

I hate whatever material this floor sign is made of:
Every stain it acquires stays there and refuses to leave no matter what you do.

Possibly the most sensitive automatic doors in the world:
A person sneezing nearby is enough to set them off.

One of three things we have to sign at the beginning and end of every shift.

This belongs to the store (to get up paint spillages, which is not part of our job).
First sign of any spill(s), and:
 Every single member of staff in the store conveniently forgets it exists.

I know people use these things. But I've never seen one being rented out.
...Or brought back...?

Every Wednesday and Saturday (and any other day management feels like it):
Some poor sod has to stand by this at the front of the store and smile.

Certain members of staff are known for doing crap like this.

...oh, the problems those things cause...

Here be a doorbell: for use by the staff while the store is closed.
The bell is really loud.
Nobody pays the slightest bit of attention to it.
(not many people pay any attention to the NO SMOKING sign, either)

This place is very popular.
(great food at a great price: no wonder the indoor cafe went bust)

Why don't more car parks have trees??

My word.
Charcoal is messy stuff.

Sooner or later, someone will notice that WELCOME is partially obscured.
(which, I know from experience, is very very bad)

This nifty little sign does NOT prevent people from yelling; trust me.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS MACHINE!
EVER!

Given my love of garish colours this may seem hypocritical, but:
The above looks way better than the neon orange, doesn't it?

Ah! So that's where they'd gone...

Every now and again a thief makes a break for it through there.
The noise the alarm makes is tremendous.

Lookin' cool under the slanty things.
(I have no idea why said slanty things are there. They serve no purpose)

Home to generation after generation of pigeons of all kinds.

I love walking along this stretch...

Cool 'ivy tree'.

See what I mean?
How cool is that?!

View from bridge beside path.
(technically slightly out of my way, but Meh)

Nifty looking plant well on its way to taking over said bridge.

Hanging baskets for the win!

Close up view of hanging baskets for the win!

...I wonder what they're going to do with that site...?

If I go the university route, I'll probably have to gain another A-level or two.
(...if I survive the course I'm doing right now, that is...)

I work here!
(only one afternoon per week, but still)

What's shakin', Roland.

Must resist...

Home to three of my favourite eateries.
(and many other great shops. Right now I'm hungry though)

Just you wait, Thomas Cook.
In a couple of years, when I've saved up enough:
I'll be back.

Very pretty island.
(plus, a stupid place to park)

If this place only had a cafe, it would be King among stores.

I have to whistle every time I use these so I can get on.
Which sounds silly, but...

...I do it anyway.
See?
I got on.

Just 10 hours a week, overtime only possible during holidays.
Ne'r mind.
(I'm already on their system, anyway, but it never hurts to ask).

...still resisting...

Another pretty island.
(minus stupid parking)

This word has been penned all over Kidderminster.
(nobody else I've spoken to has any idea why, either)

See, now, this makes more sense.

...still bloody resisting...

Nearly there.

There!

Picture Post 1 (sans words): A Happy Birthday.*

* in my my defense, regarding some of the pictures: my brother's flat is VERY DARK. I've edited them as much as I can, and they look fine on the iPad screen, but it doesn't seem to translate well onto here.
            Oh, well.

I Have No Idea What I Got Up To In My Sleep Last Night -

- but whatever it was, it seems to have been fairly vigorous.

I ache all over today, folks. The back of my legs and my right bottom cheek in particular are complaining (there's a lovely mental image for you). I wouldn't say they're 'screaming' exactly - that would be an exaggeration - but I think it would be fair to say they are cross enough that their voices are raised.

In other news, Spoken Word @ Ort is slowly creeping closer, and I have only two poems to offer so far (one of them not quite finished). I know it's not compulsory that I should perform three - it's not compulsory that I perform at all - but the thought of there not being three is starting to play on my mind, which in turn has led to said mind poking the bit of itself that deals with writing with a stick, which in turn has led to the Writing Bit of My Brain to go into a sulk and refuse to think of anything (that, or it's gone into a panic: either way). So as of right now, I have one definite poem, one nearly-a-poem and the daunting possibility of reading out part of a chapter of one of my Stories.
           Not good.
           Not good at all...

I have written my first Haiku today though, if that counts.
           It was prompted by two things:
           1. The book I am currently reading (it's called Every Day Is A Holiday by G. Mahood).
           2. (hopefully groundless) worries over the dog.

Anyway, here t'is...

~~~~~
SLEEPING DOG.
The dog rests, asleep.
I fear for the future. But,
Faced with now: I smile.
