We played for 20 minutes.
The aim was to bat the ball back and forth between us as many times as we could. That was all. The usual rules of the Great Game as played in Wimbledon and such like didn't apply (of course). It didn't matter how many times it bounced, for instance, or where the ball landed (within reason) or where we stood. There were precisely 2 conditions: the ball had to stay within the confines of the concrete court (preferably within the lines, but if not; Meh), and it had to go over the net without bouncing first. That was it.
Even in those circumstances - our own game with our own rules; made as simple and easy as possible - I am duty bound (and prouder than I should be) to inform you that we sucked.
Dismally.
Even the pigeons (which had lined up on the fence to watch. Or rest and preen their feathers. Whichever) were shaking their heads.
It was jolly good fun, though...
