Well, It's Been A Mixed Few Weeks.

I think those events that are noteworthy can fall under one of two categories.
           So! That's how I've listed them.
           Enjoy...

*****
THE GOOD:

* As of yesterday, I have saved £200 so towards my next holiday.
           - ...just £1,800 to go!

* The Brother is continuing with the routine Mother set up for him, for the most part regularly, and is much happier and calmer as a result.

* Choir has restarted. We are rehearsing Carmina Burana (Carl Orff), Winchester Te Deum (John Rutter) and As Yet Unnamed (a work by Philip Wilby, which we are awaiting details of).

* The Cousin and her Beau finally had a Saturday free to come to one of our Games Evenings.
           - Beau got to pick the games (and learn how to play them). I took several commemorative pictures and managed to bag an audio recording of us playing Frustration. The Cousin got make gentle fun of Beau's game playing efforts. Mama had the chance to show her Countdown prowess. Grandpapa got to drink a bottle of his favourite beer (AND a small measure if whisky). And each and every one of us came close to wetting our knickers/boxers with laughter more than once.
           - Much fun was had by all.

* At college, having finished Excel (AT LAST!) I moved onto to PowerPoint (which is far easier), and have already completed a mock assignment.
           - Tomorrow, all being well, I shall take the assignment itself.

* The Story is growing.
           - Very slowly and a millimetre at a time, but it is growing.

* I received confirmation from The Spoken Word organizer that a performance slot has been set aside for me in the first half of the evening (to assure that I get on stage this time).

The Bad:

* An elderly Polish lady has been coming to see me, on and off, at the Library to learn how to use a computer. Ordinarily that would be just fine if course - even in her case when due to what appeared to be the onset of Dementia, she couldn't actually learn anything - but two Mondays ago The Council decided to throw a spanner into the works and send out a letter warning all tenants in receipt of benefits that from December of this year, they HAVE TO have access to computer(s)/internet in order to continue claiming them.
           - Cue panic, an idiot woman on the phone carelessly 'advising' what Mrs Confused should buy ("oh, Tablets are easy: you should just buy one of those"), an unscrupulous salesman rubbing his hands together while HE 'advised' what she should buy (a big =HUG= by the way to the concerned member of the public, who saw what was happening and stepped in just in time, and then took the trouble to report the matter to the Library after being told by dear Mrs Confused that she was taking lessons there from a "lovely kind English girl": I don't know who you are, but I love you nonetheless), and finally me (along with one of the Librarians for a short time) trying desperately to get enough information to be able to actually give this poor woman some proper guidance while dissuading her from buying anything (yet, at least) and at the same time also trying to reassure her - as she sobbed piteously into my arms - that she wasn't going to be led away in a straight jacket by Men In White Coats just because she was unable to learn how to use a bloody computer.

* After finishing my comforting of Mrs Confused and sending her on her way, I then had to fend off a man determined to loudly and slightly aggressively address me regarding various subjects; from the state of the bus/rail services, to the hurricanes in America, to the best breed of dog to own, to why how stupid it was that one couldn't scan every single page of a book in one go rather than the 1-2 at a time one could do at present, to the unacceptable fact of the Library's coffee machine being broken and why I thought that might be.
           - I put up with it for a bit (because like Mrs Confused, it appeared he couldn't actually help it), then escaped to the podium and pretended to be very interested in what the Head Librarian was doing. He in turn was called away, but handed me a book to study instead, which I did; with such devotion that I actually took notes until the man took a break - to actually try and find out the reason that the coffee machine was OUT OF ORDER - and I took the opportunity to disappear properly to downstairs.
           - You can see them below:

* Mother lost her chequebook the other evening (it was 19:15).
           - This caused a mental meltdown, which I barely managed to contain long enough to go to the nearest cashpoint and print out a balance - until the next morning when she could visit the bank - to prove that no; the chequebook hadn't been stolen and yes; her money was still there.
           - To make matters worse, she came perilously close to running down a fox two days later, and despite evidence to the contrary spent an entire day miserably worrying that she actually HAD run it down, rather than nearly.
           - Her nerves are now shot to pieces, and as a consequence so are mine.

(...And finally, for the heck of it...)

THE UPCOMING:

* I have a week off, starting 17th September.
           - I plan to use it wisely.

Thank you. That is all. =bows. walks off=
