Too Depressed To Post.

Normal programming shall be resumed when the fog lifts enough for me to think.

Thank you.

My Mother Just Got Back With The Shopping -

- close to tears.

Why?

Because The Brother decided to shout at her for a while in Tesco's carpark.

Why?

Two reasons.

1. Lately, she has been having the teremity to arrive at his flat to take him shopping - that would be her doing him a huge favour, by the way: using her car and her petrol and her time to drive out of her way and PICK HIM UP so that he can be saved a long walk - at 8.30am rather than 7.30am, thus ensuring that the business of shopping takes place at 9am, rather than the 8am that he - who, again, is being done a gigantic FAVOUR - prefers.

2. Mother hax also had the teremity to ask him to spend a whopping FOURTY MINUTES out of his day tomorrow helping her clean the church. Because it is hard for one person to do alone, and she feels it unfair to ask her daughter - even though she would do it willingly - as she cleans for a living full time, as well as attending college, volunteering at the local library...

That is it.
            Those were my Mothers sins.
Totally deserving of being screamed at by a selfish, overindulged child of a 35-year-old in public for several minutes, right?

...I am so angry right now that I can barely see straight.

And what can I do about it?
            Precisely nothing!
Because she refuses to stick up for herself as always, and as always has pleaded with me to 'leave it alone' for her sake, because she doesn't want to make a fuss.

GAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

The Valley: A Day In Pictures.

Well, We Didn't Blow Up...

The final check on our cellar took place at 23:45, then - at last - we crawled into bed.

There is now a deep hole dug into the pavement between our house and next door's, and the gas leak is contained - temporarily; they are due to come back to fix it and fill back in the hole later - and other than getting two hours less sleep than expected, all is well.
            ...Which is good.
I mean, given the choice of the two - get 7 hours of sleep instead of 9, or potentially BLOW UP - obviously, the former is better.

Anyway, that's that.

Today, I am going on a trip on t'Valley with the Grandpapa.

Pictures (hopefully) to follow.

UPDATE:

It is outside the house. Directly outside.

(...WHY does everything in this road seem to happen outside our house...?)

Anyhoot. The National Grid People have finally turned up, and started work. There is apparently a "little bit of drilling" to be done (joy!).
There is also a pressing need to make periodic trips into our cellar to check that the negative readings are still negative (joy again!).

It is 21:24.
Lord alone knows when it'll be finished.
            Which sucks.
I mean, I know it's necessary. Gas isn't something to be toyed with. It needs to be taken seriously. It needs to be dealt with properly.

It's just...this has been going on now since 16:30, it is now 21:32, no end is in sight, and we can't go to bed because the National Grid People need access to our bloody cellar.

So, it sucks.

Either We Have A Gas Leak...

...or a pipe directly in front of the house does.
There are men currently sweeping t'house to ascertain which it is.

Watch this space...

Things That Have Made Me Smile Over The Past Week Or So:

* A child saying the phrase: "But mom; I'm not a miniature spider!"
           - No. We didn't understand it, either.

* My first performance at Spoken Word.
           - I was second on stage, read out three poems, and did pretty darn well, if I don't say so myself.

* A tot in a pushchair, gripping the toes of his little feet with both hands whilst doing this: "wheeeee! =hiccup!= wheeeee! =hiccup!= wheeeee =hiccup="

* The following announcement over the speakers at The Store, made in an effort to encourage the staff into attending the daily briefing that everybody avoids as often as possible:
"this is a staff announcement: can all available members of staff please come to the showroom desk for morning briefing. ... =pause=... There is cake. Thank you."

* The following snippet of conversation overheard as I passed by a man talking into his phone:
"...look, I'm sorry to go on about it, love, but I'm still not clear as to how the hell you managed to BLOW UP A TIRE travelling at 10 miles an hour..."

...and, last but not least...

* Pictures like this:

...I wonder if I can take a picture of myself taking a picture...

"Okay. 1...2...3... Think!"

"Okay. Now, 1...2...3...Pout!"

"That's it, baby! Work it!"

"Biscuit? Where?"

Thank you.
           That is all.
